Why do we put ourselves through this?

Pain comes with love. Every single time. No exceptions.

Anyone who claims otherwise is lying.

Because there is no perfect love. There are no perfect relationships. There are no perfect partners, perfect boyfriend or husband, no perfect person. Of course, Im talking about human love here, so God and His perfect love isn't part of the equation.

When we love someone, we open ourselves up to getting hurt at the same time. Because we when love, we become more vulnerable - it's like we're giving this person a gun while saying "shoot me!". He can pull the trigger anytime, and he will, at one point or another, whether willingly or not.

So why do we put ourselves through this pain time and time again? Why, after getting hurt so badly, do we either go back to the person who hurt us, or we go looking for somebody new to love who we know will eventually cause us pain again?

Because we are wired to love.

There is something inside us that pushes us to keep on looking for that someone who will make us happier, who will make our lives better - who will make us WANT to be better.

There is something there that keeps bugging us to find The One, and wouldn't leave us in peace until we do so.

There is something there that never stops hoping.

And therein lies the problem.
